Components:

45x Ab-conjugated beads (S4P8 - human IL-1RA ab-bead).

25x Biotin-detection Ab (human IL-1RA Biotin-dAb).

Lyophilized Standard Mix-Human Group 1 Panel B.

Application: Optimal antibody pair and antigen standard for assaying human IL-1RA.  Can be multiplexed with other analytes in Human Group 1.  To be used in conjunction with the AimPlex NR Basic Kit (96 Tests PN: P100001, 32 Tests PN: P100001T) and a diluent kit. Refer to the AimPlex Multiplex Immunoassay User Manual and kit inserts for the assay procedure.

Storage:  2-8 C in the dark.

Important: Sodium azide forms explosive compounds with heavy metals. These products contain <0.05% (w/w) azide which with repeated contact with lead and copper commonly found in plumbing drains may result in the buildup of shock sensitive compounds. Dispose in accordance with regulations from your institute.

Description:

Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist (Accession P18510) is a member of Interleukin-1 cytokine family. IL1RA binds non-productively to the IL-1 receptor surface, the same receptor that binds to IL-1. IL1RA is secreted by many types of T cells and epithelial cells and adipocytes. It inhibits the pro-inflammatory activities of IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta, though in vitro, IL1RA appears to have no effect on human T cell responses. It may indicate that IL-1 may not be necessary for T cell proliferation in vitro. IL-1 instigates the production of matrix metalloproteinases and other enzymes damage cartilage. As IL1RA restricts IL-1, a recombinant version of IL1RA is used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Studies have also  observed a relationship between high levels of IL1RA and schizophrenia.
